Wraparound Care

What is Wraparound Care?

Wraparound childcare is childcare that is provided at either end of the school day to support working families or those with other commitments. It can also refer to childcare provision within the school holidays. Wraparound childcare is not the same as attending an after-school club, although there may be some overlap in practical terms. After-school clubs have the primary purpose of providing additional educational and sporting opportunities in a more relaxed setting and beyond the usual subjects taught within the school curriculum. Wraparound childcare is primarily focussed on ensuring that your child is safe, happy and in an environment that they will enjoy before and after school

In the David Ross Education Trust we strive to ensure that all of our primary schools can provide wraparound childcare between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 on all days when the school is open. If we are unable to do this then we will ensure that we can share information on other local childcare providers that are also able to take your child to school and pick them up afterwards so that parents have seamless care between these hours. For on-site childcare, may be provided by the academy directly or by an external provider using the academy premises. In all cases there will be a charge for the childcare, although we strive to ensure that this is kept to a minimum and schools may not make a profit from providing such childcare.

Please note that where wraparound childcare is offered by a third-party provider or we let you know of local wraparound childcare availability, this does not constitute an endorsement of the service provided. The academy does not benefit financially in any way from sharing information about wraparound childcare locally.

The specific wraparound childcare arrangements for this academy are as follows:

Before School Childcare

Our childcare provision commences at 7.30am and runs up until the start of school at 8.45am. All children are escorted to their classrooms at 8.45 to ensure they receive their attendance mark.

Currently, Football and Fitness Sports Coaching provide the before school childcare. On average, 3 different members of the sports coaching team will attend in a week to run the service but these members of staff are consistently on the same day.

The service is located in the hall of the school which can be entered through the fire exit of the car park. A member of the sports coaching team will be there to greet you and sign your child/ren in.

For each session, children are provided with a couple of food options. The first option is rounds of toast with spreads such as butter and jam. Next, children can choose to have cereals such as: Multigrain Cheerios (Hoops), Cornflakes or Rice Krispies. In addition to the food options, children will be provided with fresh water or juices e.g. orange or blackcurrant.

The cost of accessing the provision is £5.50 per session. All bookings must be sent to Sam Wesson on 07751010418 or sam@footballandfitness.co.uk. To book on, a booking form provided via the office or by

contacting Sam Wesson directly, must be filled out with details provided such as: Name, Contact Number, Medical Info and Dates/Sessions needed. Once the booking form and payment has been received, a confirmation message will be sent back to confirm the child’s spaces.

After School Childcare

Currently, Football and Fitness Sports Coaching deliver the After School Childcare provision. Provision starts at 3.30pm (straight after school) with teachers escorting children directly to the hall.

For the first hour of each session, 3.30pm-4.30pm, a specific sport is delivered which is outlined on the booking form. These sports include but are not restricted to: Football, Dodgeball, Gymnastics, Tennis and Cricket. We also provide the option for children to have a say in the sport we deliver with favoured options being : dance, parachute games and hockey etc. No child is forced to take part in the session and are welcome to take part in other leisurely activities provided such as: Lego, building blocks and colouring etc. The cost of the first hour of childcare is £6.00 per child per session. Children can either be collected from the main gate next to reception if collection is earlier than 4.15pm or the small hall fire exit door (located at the car park) if between 4.15-4.30pm. Contact numbers for the relevant coaches for each day are attached on the booking form.

In addition, children can attend between 4.30 and 5.30 (normally after a school run club) and receive some food options such as: a sandwich, toast with spreads and biscuits. The cost of this service is £6.00 per child per session. This hour consists of participating in leisurely activities such as: Lego, building blocks, chrome book educational games and colouring. Children can be collected at the small hall fire exit door.

Furthermore, children can attend for the whole provision (3.30-5.30) and this is charged at £9.50. Children will take part in the sport/leisurely activities and then be provided with food options as stated above at 4.30pm for pick up at anytime between 4.30 and 5.30pm.

All bookings must be sent to Sam Wesson on 07751010418 or sam@footballandfitness.co.uk. To book on, a booking form provided via the office or by contacting Sam Wesson directly, must be filled out with details provided such as: Name, Contact Number, Medical Info and Dates/Sessions needed. Once the booking form and payment has been received, a confirmation message will be sent back to confirm the child’s spaces.

Finally, all other details can be found on the booking form. We strongly encourage all parents/guardians to read the policies and procedures section when booking their children on to the provision.

Holiday Childcare

Currently, Football and Fitness do not offer any holiday childcare at Welton Academy due to little interest when once tried before. However, Football and Fitness offer multiple venues across Leicestershire if your child would like to attend during the holidays. All info for these holiday clubs can be found at: footballandfitness.co.uk
